LEMON DESSERT (Limon Tatlısı)

I made a mini version of this dessert which is usually done in large trays. We are 4 in the house but cats don't eat dessert so that leaves only 2 to enjoy this deli and I am afraid it has way many calories in it. So the amounts given below are for mini size but feel free to multiply when necessary.



Ingredients:

For the cake
  • 100 g sugar
  • 100 g flour
  • 2 eggs
  • Lemon juice, 1 tablespoon
  • Baking powder, 1 teaspoon
For the syrup:
  • 100 mL orange juice
  • 100 g sugar
  • 350 mL water
  • Lemon juice, 1 tablespoon

Preparation:
  • Heat the oven to 180°C.
  • Sieve the flour and baking powder in a large bowl.
  • Add all the ingredients for the cake and mix thoroughly by using an electrical mixer.
  • Pour in a cake tray or a pyrex (Borcam) tray and cook for 20-25 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, add the ingredients for syrup, except lemon juice in a saucepan and bring to boil.
  • Let it simmer for 5 minutes and add lemon juice.
  • Swirl and take off from the heat.
  • Let it become warm, not boiling hot. (I transferred the syrup in a glass bowl and stirred until the cake is ready.)
  • Take the cake from the oven and pour syrup onto the cake. Allow all the syrup to be absorbed.
  • Enjoy hot or chilled.
