Elif's Ginger-Chicken Soup (Elif'in zencefilli tavuk çorbası)

Here is a very nutritious soup, and it is quite easy to prepare. You may use drumsticks, as I did in here, or use the whole chicken. Important part is to use the bones so that the marrow and bones are infused. So do not use lean chicken or only breasts. You may spice it up if you like, and add vegetables in it such as potato or carrot. A versatile soup, ideal for white winter days. Many thanks to Elif Tuğçe Karoğlu, for the recipe, instructions and the insistence; "Such a nice soup, you have to try."

Ingredients:
Chicken drumsticks, 8 pieces
Ginger, raw
Onion
2 eggs
Flour, 2 tablespoons
Lemon juice, 1 lemon
Salt

Serves 6-8.

Preparation:
Add the drumsticks in a pan and cover with water.
Add peeled ginger, and onion in large pieces.
Bring to boil. Let it simmer on a low heat for 45 minutes.
Sieve the soup, keep the filtrate apart, resume the broth to simmer.
In a bowl, whisk eggs, lemon juice, and flour.
Add a spoon of the hot broth slowly to the egg mixture, while still stirring.
Add this to the simmering broth, slowly and mixing all the way.
When it comes to boil again, add salt.
Strip the meat from the chicken bones, into small pieces.
Add the chicken to the broth, let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
Enjoy!
