SUTLACH (Sütlaç)

This is a very traditional, home-made dessert which is also nutritious. Especially this can be made for kids who don't like milk. I bet, this is the second best way of drinking milk, first one being the milk chocolate!


Ingredients:
  • 1 kg milk
  • 150 g rice
  • 200 g caster sugar
  • Vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon
  • 600 ml water

Preparation:
  • Wash the rice with plenty of water.
  • In a saucepan, add rice and water and cook with a medium heat until water is finished. 
  • Add milk and continue cooking for another 20 minutes.
  • Add vanilla extract and sugar, cook for a 5 minutes and turn the heat off.
  • Serve in small cups with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Note: all the cooking shall be on medium heat, lid off and with frequent stirring.
