FAUX WATER BOREK (Yalancı Su Böreği)
Ingredients:
- 4 yufka (or filo sheets)
- 300 g white cheese (or feta)
- Parsley, half pack (20 g)
- 1 egg yolk
- 120 mL oil
- 600 mL boiling water
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (gas mark 6).
- Glace the tray with oil
- Lay out one yufka in a disorganized way, forming wrinkles.
- Glace the yufka in the tray with oil by the help of a brush.
- Lay out second yufka.
- Again glace with oil, all around.
- In a bowl, mix chopped parsley with cheese, and smash with the help of a fork, forming crumbles of parsley and cheese, And pour all of it onto the second layer of yufka.
- Lay out the third layer, and glace with oil.
- Finally, cover all with the forth layer of yufka.
- Add the egg yolk into the remaining oil, whisk together, pour all on top of the yufka layers.
- Cook in the oven for 20 minutes.
- Take the tray out of the oven, pour the boiling water all over the borek.
- Cook for a further 25 minutes.
- Enjoy!
ps. Here, I used filo pastry sheets instead of yufka. Filo sheets are smaller in size than a usual yufka, so instead of 4 yufka, I used 6 filo sheets; like 3 sheets, cheese-parsley, and again three sheets.

I love this easy way of making water borek. You know it's a bit tiresome to make it from scratch. This one is much more practical! And it looks definitely so yummy! Thanks for this recipe!
