DESSERT WITH GRAPE MOLASSES (Haside)
I learned this dessert from a TV show, Soframiz. It is an extremely simple dessert, ready in less than 20 minutes. I assume it has tons of nutritional value, coming from the grape molasses (pekmez). We eat pekmez at breakfast by mixing it with tahini and then dipping bread into it. Pekmez is believed to make you stronger and definitely keeps you warm, puts some rosiness onto your cheeks. So I'd like to dedicate this dessert to my dear friend Ceren, who hasn't been feeling well for a while.
Ingredients:
- 150 mL Grape molasses (pekmez)
- Starch, 3 table spoons (or plain flour)
- 75 g walnuts (or almonds)
Preparation:
- Add grape molasses, 300 mL water (simply twice the volume of molasses, if you have one cup of molasses just add two cups of water without measuring) into a saucepan and start heating.
- Add starch and mix until it gets to a homogenous mixture.
- As it gets warmer, it will thicken. When it has an almost pudding consistency, add the chopped walnuts or almonds, give it a swirl.
- Transfer into bowls, enjoy hot or cold.
