CHICKPEAS WITH MEAT (Etli Nohut)



Ingredients:
  • 400 g chickpeas
  • 200 g diced meat
  • 1 onion
  • Vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons
  • Red pepper flakes (or paprika), 1 teaspoon
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon
  • Salcha (or tomato paste), half tablespoon
  • (no blackpeppers in this recipe)

Preparation:
  • The night before, soak the chickpeas in plenty of cold water.
  • In a saucepan add the meat and finely diced onion, roast them all for 10 minutes.
  • Add salcha and spices, mix.
  • Drain the chickpeas and add them to the saucepan, roast for 5 minutes.
  • Add 800 mL hot water, cook on a low heat with the lid on for 45 minutes, by mixing at intervals.
